This is t he“cost s”t hat one sp ecies p aid for t he anot her . The “cost s”may be rewarded or not , rewarded more or less. The insect - pollinated plant s need to p ay pollination cost s for pollen transfer . The pollination cost s of t he general insect - pollinated plant s are confined to providing nectar sources and some structures favored for nectar collecting. In general , t he plant s needn ’t to provide nutrition and shelters to t he pollinators. But t he fig trees need to ; ot herwise t hey should have no seeds.
