Cultivated grapevines ( V. vinifera L. ssp. sativa) are considered to have been domesticated from wild population of V. vinifera L. ssp. sylvestris. The domestication process involves the selection of hermaphrodite genotypes producing larger and sweeter berries of attractive colors and the development of techniques for their vegetative propagation. Major questions regarding grapevine domestication concern the time and number of domestication events, and the geographic locations where they took place. In this article, the advance
