In the story, there were 12 women, each with a representing a different characteristic and fate. 贾宝玉 Jia Baoyu 贾宝玉，男主人公，是贾家很重要的一个继承人，自幼聪明， 但不喜欢念书，只喜欢和姐姐妹妹们一起玩。因家人反对， 他不能与表妹林黛玉结婚，而最终出家做了和尚。 Jia Baoyu was the main male character in the story and was the heir of his family. Though he was intelligent, Baoyu showed no interest in studying and only spent time getting along with his cousins. His family didn’t allow him to marry his beloved cousin Daiyu, and Baoyu ended up being a monk 林黛玉 Lin Daiyu 林黛玉，贾宝玉的表妹之一， 从小失去了父母，寄住在贾 宝玉家中。她和贾宝玉兴趣相投，互相爱慕。由于林黛玉 从小身体很弱，贾宝玉的家人不想让他和林黛玉结婚。最 终，林黛玉因为悲伤而死。 Lin Daiyu, Baoyu’s cousin, moved into Jia Baoyu’s house after her mother’s death.
