reward n.报答,赏金,报酬vt.奖赏,给……报酬 An act of kindness deserves a reward. 做好事,当然要有回报。 reward for virtue. 对美德的奖赏 reward sb. with…for sth.为某事而以……报答某人 give a reward to sb. for sth.为某事而给某人报酬 in reward of为酬答……;作为奖励 as a reward for sth.作为(对某事的)报酬 diet n.节食;饮食;食物;规定饮食 vi.节食 My friend,Hugh,has always been fat,but things got so bad recently that he decided to go on a diet. 我的朋友休一直很胖,但是近来情况变得越发糟糕,以致他决定节食。 Proper diet and exercise are important for health. 适当的饮食和运动对身体健康都很重要。 go on a diet节食 embarrass vt.使窘迫,使尴尬,使为难vi.窘迫 It was obvious that he was very embarrassed. 显然他感到很尴尬。 She was embarrassed when they asked about her age. 他们问她的年龄时,她窘得很。 embarrassed adj.尴尬的;窘迫的 embarrassing adj. 使人尴尬的;令人为难的 embarrassment n.窘迫,难堪;使人为难的人或事物 strict adj.严格的,精确的,完全的 He explained that his diet was so strict that he had to reward himself occasionally. 他解释说,他的饮食控制得太严格了,以致不得不偶尔奖赏自己一下。 Our manager is very strict with us. 经理对我们要求很严格。 be strict with sb.对某人要求严格 be strict in sth.对某事要求严格 occasionally adv.偶尔地,间或 He explained that his diet was so strict that he had to reward himself occasionally. 他解释说,他的饮食控制得太严格了,以致不得不偶尔奖赏自己一下。 She used to call her mother every week but now she calls only occasionally. 她过去每周都给她妈妈打电话,但现在只是偶尔才打。 always,often,sometimes与occasionally的区别 ①always:表示的频率为100%,意思是“总是、一直、始终”。它在句子中通常放在行为动词之前,be动词或情态动词之后。如:I always do my cleaning on Sundays.我总是在星期天打扫卫生。 ②often的频率比always略低些,约为60%~70%,意思是“经常,常常”。如:Do you often write to them?你常给他们写信吗? ③sometimes的频率比often又低些,约为50%,意为“有时,不时”。 ④occasionally的频率更低,约为10%,意为“偶尔地,间或”。 temporarily adv.暂时地,临时地 To make matters worse,the room is rather small,so I have temporarily put my books on the floor. 更糟糕的是房间还非常小,所以我暂时把书放在了地板上。 Put the goods in the room temporarily. 先暂时把这些货物放在屋子里。 momentary adj.短暂的,瞬间的 permanent adj.永久的,持久的 actually adv.实际上;事实上 At the moment,they cover every inch of floor space and I actually have to walk on them to get in or out of room. 这会儿,书把地板的每一点空隙都占据了,我实际上是踩着这些书进出房间的。 He threw the stone to hit the tree but actually he broke a window. 他本想用石头砸那棵树,不想却
