Earth Science Fron- tiers , 2010 , 17(1) :011-023 At炼tract:τhe magma prism beneath the Changbaishan volcanoes is a layered magm a:- rich collection , which dips to the SE and stretches deep into hundr吧ds of kilometers , with the width varying from 30- 50 km to 300- 500 m. T he accumulation of thermal and volatile material w ithin the prism brought about the partial melting w hich caused the production of magmas w ith different com position and density. As the magma rose up to a certain depth , the stagnation of magma made it horizontally dispersed and formed chambers. The less dense magma evolved in the chamber reached the surface and made eruptions as the chamber pressure increased. T nr chyb削alts ， the primitive magma of the Tianchi lava shield , were derived from the mantle reservoir and the tnr chytes and comendites of alkalic series evolved from trachybasalts were derived from the crustal chamber.
