WiththedeclineoftheFordismandtherenaissanceofnewregionalism,regionaldevelopment patternsuggestedbyUNIDOhasexperiencedchangesfromthegrowthpolemodelin1960sand1970stothe industrialclustermodelin1990s.Althoughitspracticeperformanceisstale,thegrowthpoletheoryhas far-reachinginfluenceintheregionaldevelopmentandhasbeengenerallyappliedinbothregionalandurban planningtillnow.
