His works have great influence on English literature, and Great Expectations is one of his greatest works. I come to learn his writing skills by writing this paper. 2. Many people today tend to lose themselves in their lives. In this paper, I made a study on Pip’s change in his characteristics which somewhat discovers something important in human nature. By doing so, I hope it helps people think about whom they are and what is the thing that they really want, and then, realize themselves. 研究综述（前人的研究现状及进展情况）： Today the study on Great Expectation mainly has two aspects: the images of women and romantic tendency. Many people analyze the women image of Great Expectation in their articles such as the image of Miss Havisham, Estella, and Biddy. By the description of good women and so-called evil women, Dickens’ idea that punishes the evil and praises the good gets well shown. Dickens is also a romantic novelist whose masterpieces reflect the typical romantic idea of returning to nature and caring of children.
