Development of the Unified Rolling Force Model Using von Karman Equation on Elastic Foundation Method论文.pdf

Development of the Unified Rolling Force Model Using von Karman Equation on Elastic Foundation Method ·1 · Development of the Unified Rolling Force Model Using von Karman Equation on Elastic Foundation Method Guo Remnmin (V. P. Research and Development, Tenova I2S, Yalesville, Connecticut, USA) Abstract For the past decades, rolling models have been applied based on the rolling mill types. There is no unified rolling force/power model in the industrial and academic fields. The original von Karman equation was derived from the force equilibrium condition without any special assumptions. Hence, the unified solution should exist if no special assumptions are introduced in the solving routine. This article proposes a unified rolling force/power model by solving von Karman equation on the elastic foundation whose unit spring constant is obtained from Hertzian contact equation. This new developed solution can be applied to all rolling mill types. Key words slip friction, elastic foundation, stress-strain curve, rolling force, rolling model, rolling mill 1 Introduction Nowadays, the metal industry focuses on innovation and creation. From the rolling technology prospective, the foundation of all rolling technology is the rolling force/power theory from which pass schedule models, crown/shape models, thermal models, wear models, and all level-2 related models are generated. Most rolling models were derived from von Karman equation[1] including four unknowns: normal stress s, shear stress τ, compressive stress σ, and roll/strip contact contour h. Three additional equations of frictio
