This is the first a lication of s stematic re ional surve method in g q pp y g y Yunnan. This surve discovered 43 sites, 25 of w hich belon ed to the Bronze A e, nine crossed the y g g Bronze A e throu h the Eastern Han D nast , T hree Kin doms Period and Western Jin D nast , five g g y y g y y belonged to the Han Dynasty and the rest four were cemet eries. The analyses based on the survey results showed that the alluvial plain around the Lake Dian w as very possibly the central region for the bronze cultures of the Lake Dian area to emerge and develop; the areas w ith densely distributed sites of the Han Dynasty w ere close to the seat of Yizhou Prefecture, w hich w as the political center of this area at that time.
