After tracing the history of Mingxi new qiaoxiang in the last decade , this paper attempts to explore the factors that have initiated and shaped the transnational emigration wave in this inland mountainous area of Fu j ian . In particular , both positive and negative social influences have resulted from the emigrants on the abovementioned sending society . It argues that in the current age of migration , it would be bet ter to formalize and promote the peasants selfmade migration network instead of simplg trying to de story it .
