Correlations Between Chemical State, Dispersion State, and Anticorrosive Properties of Graphene Reinforced… ·1 · Correlations Between Chemical State, Dispersion State, and Anticorrosive Properties of Graphene Reinforced Waterborne Polyurethane Composite Coatings Li Jing, Li Yaya, Yang Zhenzhen, Yang Junhe (School of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Shanghai 200093, China) Abstract Grapheneoxide (GO) / functionalized graphene (FG) / graphene oxide after mild reduction(RGO) reinforced waterborne polyurethane (PU ) composite coatings were fabricated on galvanizedsteel surfaces. The anticorrosive properties of the graphene reinforced PU composite coating were characterized. The dispersion state of graphene in PU matrix varied with the tailored chemical state of graphene. The correlations between the chemical state, dispersion state of graphene, and anticorrosive properties of the composite coatings were discussed. The superior anticorrosive properties of the graphene reinforced PU composite coatings were achieved by the addition of 0.2 wt% of RGO. The Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) results showed that the under-painting corrosion didn’t occur after 235 h immersion in 3.5 wt% NaCl 9 electrolyte and the impedance modulus at 0. 1Hz remained at 10 Ω, barely changed for 235 h.The GO reinforced PU composite coatingsshowed similar anticorrosive properties. The FG reinforced PUcomposite coatings exhibited a conductive percolation threshold of 0.1 wt%, while their anticorrosive pro
