The model is based on the commercial code ANSYS-FLUENT 15.0 which solves the Navier-Stokes equations by using an interface tracking technique known as Volume of Fluid (VOF) for the multiple phase system steel/slag. As a result, the model predicts metal flow and slag infiltration as well as their influence on heat flux and solidification under transient conditions. Recent improvements to the model include separation between mould powder and slag film and considering the effect of crystallization on interfacial resistance for a Peritectic mould powder through a User Defined Function (UDF). The casting parameters analysed consist ofcasting speed interlocked with oscillation settings, Submerged Entry Nozzle (SEN) immersion depth and Argo
