While和when的区别 两者都可以表示为“当……时候”，两者都可表示主句动作与从句动作同时发生。但while引导的从句中谓语动词必须用延续性动词（即能表示一段时间的动词）；而when引导的从句中谓语动词既可以用延续性动词（表示一段时间的动词）也可以是非延续性动词（即表示一个时间点的动词）表示时间段时，从句用进行时态；表示时间点时，从句用一般过去时或一般现在时。 注：在英语中如果当两个动作在过去某时间同时发生时，通常动作持续时间较长的句子用过去进行时，表示另一动作发生的背景；而另一动词则用一般过去时，表示动作发生的事实。 例如1：The teacher came in when we were talking loudly.当我们正大声说话时，老师进来了。 例如2：While/When I was having supper, someone knocked at the door.(was having supper为一个时间段，have为延续性动词） 例如3：When you leave the room, please turn off the lights.(leave为非延续性动词，帮从句不能用while引导） 另外书中有一个句子： Because I made faces and made my classmate laugh when she was giving us a lesson. 过去进行时与一般过去时的区别 （1）过去进行时表示过去某时正在进行的动作，强调动作的进行性和边疆性；一般过去时则表示某个动作发生了，单纯叙述过去的事情，强调动作，也就是说只表示有过这件事。 例如： 1、The children were watching TV yesterday evening.昨天整晚孩子们都在看电视。 2、The children watched TV yesterday evening.昨天晚上孩子们看电视了。 （2）当叙述过去发生的事，尤其是过程中发生的一系列动作时，都用一般过去时。 例如：I woke up at six.
