General information1.Objective1.1In connection with the Invitation for Bids indicated in the Bid Data Sheet (BDS), the Employer, as indicated in the BDS, issues these Bidding Documents for the procurement of the Works specified in Section VI-Technical Specifications and Drawing. The name, identification, and number of lots (contracts) of theInternational Competitive Bidding (ICB) are provided in the BDS.1.2Throughout this Bidding Documents:The term “in writing” shall mean communicated in written form and delivered against receipt;except where the context requires otherwise, words indicating the singular also include the plural and words indicating the plural also include the singular; and The term “day” shall stand for a calendar day.2. Source of funding2.1The borrower or beneficiary (hereafter referred to as the “Borrower”) whose name is stated in the Bid Data Sheet, has applied for or received funding (hereafter referred to as “the funds”) from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development or from the International Development Association (hereafter referred to as the “Bank”), to finance the project specified in the Bid Data Sheet. The Borrower intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of the loan to eligible payments under the contract for which this invitation to bid is issued.2.2Payment by the Bank will be made only at the request of the Borrower and upon approval by the Bank, pursuant to the provisions of the loan agreement signed between the Borrower and the Bank (hereafter referred to as the “Loan Agreement” and will be subject, in all respects, to the terms and conditions of the Loan Agreement. No party other than the Borrower shall derive any rights from the Loan Agreement or have any claim to loan proceeds.
