The man-made disaster that is chemical plant explosion occurred. The Red Cross assists survivors to respond to emergencies, especially mental health. Faced different victims, the emergency mental health technicians interacted with kinds of disaster survivors. The type of chemical plant explosion is human-made. Veenema states that man-made disasters include chemical spills and explosions (2013, p.3). When I was a Red Cross nurse volunteer, I was in one or more of three disaster service areas, including health service, mental health and staff well-ness. And there are some significance roles for nurse in the Red Cross disaster services which is including the care, support and assess. As a nurse volunteer, I worked without any salary, which is mainly difference with full-time nurses employed by the Red Cross. During providing the Red Cross disaster service as a nurse volunteer, I faced kinds of disaster survivors whom not only need physiology service, especially needed mental health. Most of victims lost their families, friends and lover. So it’s easy to have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
