Packing can be classified into two types: Shipping packing / Outer packing / Large packing Sales packing / Inner packing / Small packing Shipping packing is used for the convenience of protecting and transporting goods. Sales packing is designed for the promotion of sales. III. Background discussion The goods should be packed in a way according to the importer’s instructions or the trade custom, without violating the import country’s regulations on outer packing material, length and weight, or going against the import country’s social customs and national preference for inner packing colors and designs, etc. Packing is a sensitive subject, which often leads to trade disputes. An exporter shall make delivery in exact accordance with the requests of packaging set forth in the relative contract. Both shipping packing and sales packing are very important to the smooth execution of an order. III. Background discussion Marks To facilitate the identification of goods, the outer packing must be marked clearly with identifying symbols and numbers which should be the same as indicated in the commercial invoice, the bill of lading and the other shipping documents. Background discussion Shipping Mark usually consists of a simple design, some letters, numbers and simple words, and mainly contains: name of port of destination (code); code of consignee or consignor; piece number, serial number, contract number or license number. some importers require weight to be stenciled.
