Placement of Funds CReATE 5/13 Policy set forth in memorandum of 4/5/1994 from President D’Alemberte) Objective Familiarize staff with policy on proper Placement of Funds in: Sponsored Research Trust Fund (SRS/SRAS) Research Foundation (RF) Foundation (FSU Foundation) Auxiliary Trust Fund (Budget Analysis, BA) NOTE: (Office responsible for compliance noted in parentheses above.) Placement of Funds Responsibilities SRS, SRAS and RF Staff are responsible for: Advising outside entities and university faculty/staff who inquire about the proper depository for funds Accepting only authorized funds in SRTF and RF Placement of Funds Sponsored Research Trust Fund (SRTF) Awards (Contracts, Grants, Purchase Orders, Sponsored Agreements, etc.) from Governmental entities (Local, State Federal) for research, training or development (including governmental flow-through awards) and Private funds used to match publicly funded agreements should be administered in SRTF. Placement of Funds Sponsored Research Trust Fund (SRTF), cont’d These awards typically require: Involvement of faculty and/or staff effort and other expenses necessary for the conduct of research/training Submission of technical and/or financial reports to sponsor Award may be fixed price, cost reimbursable, etc. Placement of Funds Research Foundation Same criteria as for SRTF, except awards from private entities (unless being used to match publicly funded awards) and Income derived from patents and copyrights Placement of Funds FSU Foundation GIFTS AND BEQUESTS from private sources for approved university programs for which no services and/or products are required Placement of Funds Auxiliary Trust Fund Revenue earned as a result of sales/use of facilities/services Examples: Bookstore, Card Center, Ringling Museum, Chemistry Stock Room, Academic Computing Center, Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR) Charges for products/services based on rates approved by Budget and Analysis
