(1)YaoMing, the best basketball player in China, retired from NBA in 2011. (2)LuXun, a famous writer in China, was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. (3)Shakespeare, a world-famous playwright, is well-known for his 4 tragedies and 4 comedies. 2. Review the apposition by showing pictures of Liuxiang and Phelps. Ask students to translate the Chinese below the picture by trying to imitate the sentences they recite. 刘翔,110米栏的冠军得主,是每个中国人心中的偶像。 菲尔普斯,罕见的游泳天才,获得了六枚奥运金牌。 Suggested answer: Liu Xiang, the champion of 110-metre hurdle, is an idol of every Chinese. Phelps, a rare talent in swimming, won 6 gold medals in Olympics. 图片的呈现激发了学生的兴趣,而且这两个翻译句子的练习既巩固了同位语又自然地导入了Olympic Games这一话题。 Step2:Brainstorming Ask students to brainstorm the events of Olympic Games and keep them in mind.
