Cylinder Head MECHANICAL 19.Cylinder Head 10) While tapping the cylinder head with a plastic hammer, separate it from cylinder block. Remove A: REMOVAL the bolts (A) and (D) to remove cylinder head. NOTE: Perform the work with the engine installed to body (D) (F) (A) when replacing a single part. Refer to “Valve Clear- ance” for preparation. Ref. to ME(H4DOTC)-28, INSPECTION, Valve Clearance. 1) Remove the V-belts. Ref. to ME(H4DOTC)-40, REMOVAL, V-belt. 2) Remove the crank pulley. (B) (E) (C) Ref. to ME(H4DOTC)-42, REMOVAL, Crank Pul- ley. ME-00122 3) Remove the timing belt cover. 11) Remove the cylinder head gasket. Ref. to ME(H4DOTC)-43, REMOVAL, Timing Belt Cover. CAUTION: 4) Remove the timing belt. Be careful not to scratch the mating surface of Ref. to ME(H4DOTC)-44, REMOVAL, Timing cylinder block and cylinder head. Belt. 12) Similarly, remove the cylinder head (RH). 5) Remove the cam sprocket. B: INSTALLATION Ref. to ME(H4DOTC)-52, REMOVAL, Cam Sprocket. 1) Install the cylinder head and gaskets on cylinder block. 6) Remove the intake manifold. Ref. to FU(H4DOTC)-14, REMOVAL, Intake Man- CAUTION: ifold.
