Teaching Plan The very hungry caterpillar Teaching Plan Teaching Type: Reading and retelling Teaching time: 40’ Teaching objectives: 1 Knowledge aims: the words of the week,such as Sunday,Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,Saturday,and some expressions,such as ate through, hungry 2 Skill aims: ask the students to retell the story using the key words given. 3 Moral aims: work hard to be better Teaching Key Point and Difficulty: 1 the words about the food and the words of a week 2 show the students how to retell the story using the key words. Teaching aids: pictures,word cards and power point Teaching procedures: Step1 Warm up and lead-in Greetings and free talk What do you have for your lunch? I have noodles for lunch。 What about you? [purpose] lead the students to think of the food. Step2 Presentation 1 Pre-reading Today I’ll introduce a friend to you.He is hungry.What will you eat when you are hungry? A piece of cake ,some pizza,some cheese,apples,or other fruits. 2 While-reading Let’s see what is the story about. Read the story,using the power point. Show the word cards about the week on the board,and put the right food under the word of each day. 3 Post-reading Let’s think about the story. Ask the students to discuss what happened to the caterpillar. Step3 Summary Look at the board, encourage the students to retell the story with the key words.
