The differences between  Chinese and Greek myth The Origin Chinese myth was the product of ancient sages’ imaginations, which can conquer nature, dominate nature and make the power of nature have its own image. Chinese myth mainly talked about the origin of human being, everything in nature, and tribal fights, etc. It reflected the ancient living surroundings, conditions and cultural development. Chinese cultural derived from The Yellow River basin（黄河流域）, so it could be said that Chinese myth was based on the closed inland cultural（内陆文化）. Greek myth derived from Crete’s Minoans Civilization（克里特岛的“米诺斯文明”）. it was an open culture which absorbed other excellent cultures to develop itself. Greek geographical location was very superior, and the navigation cause and overseas trade developed rapidly, so Greek myth was mainly concerned about Greek person’s value orientation（希腊人的价值取向），which was more important than moral. The Greek myth praised and admires the individualism（个人主义）, which was the most basic and biggest difference between Chinese and Greek myths. The Features Although Chinese myth had appeared in the Late Paleolithic Age（旧石器时代），the myth stories passed down were just a few and unsystematic because of many reasons. Many of them were written in ShanHaiChing（山海经）， HuaiNanTzu（淮南子），and other ancient literatures, such as Jingwei Reclamation（精卫填海），Yu Gong Remove the Mountains（愚公移山）. On the other hand, Chinese myth’s self-creation was much more significant than Greek myth. Because of its inland culture, Chinese myth was influence very little by other cultures.
