Dialogue: Dad: (sounding very angry) Listen to me young man remember the day when we left you in charge? We thought you could act like an adult! I don’t know the reason why the house is so dirty….. Mom: Daniel, we thought you were an adult, a person from whom we could expect good decisions…… Dad: Whom we could trust! This is not a family where bad behavior goes unpunished and you…… Danial: (shouting) Stop shouting at me. I’m still a teenager! Why is everything always my fault? Question: 1. Are the underlined sentences complete? 2.What feelings do the sentences in red show? 3. You can’t write exactly the way people speak.‘Umm’ or ‘hmm’ shouldn’t be included in a written dialogue. 1.Don’t repeat words in a dialogue. It’s not exciting to read or listen to the repeated words. 2. You must use the words that show your character’s feelings. Don’t write words like “She is angry”. When writing a dialogue, please remember: Part A on Page 36. Read the dialogue. Discuss with your partner what is wrong with the underlined sentences and rewrite them in a better way. Come and look! Don’t you talk to me like that! You should start cleaning now if you plan to leave! The sentences that show Mum is unhappy or angry: The sentences that show Jack’s mood: This is so unfair!
