The aim of this course is to help postgraduate students learn the skills necessary for producing an academic research paper, which has a structure more or less the same as a dissertation. The course discusses and explains the rationale for different sections of an academic paper. Genuine examples from recent international and local journals are used to exemplify the discourse structure, function, and relevant linguistic features of each sub-section.
