Please submit your paper directly to me. I will not be expecting an e-paper via e-mail. Peer assessment: Write a letter of inquiry to the Accommodation Office of the University of New York. Five parts: heading, salutation, body, complimentary closing, signature. Layout: indented or block. 4Cs: clear, concise, complete, courteous. Share with us the highlights you have found in your partner’s letter. (The highlight can be a phrase, a sentence, or a paragraph.) Write comments for your partner. Highlights As an exchange student from SD University of China, I am writing to inquire about the accommodation at your esteemed university since I am leaving next month. It would be fantastic if you could put me into a mixed flat with native students so that I will be exposed to different lifestyles and cultures. Would you be kind enough to tell me about the accommodation cost and terms of payment? Is it all right for me to pay by a traveler’s check? I would appreciate very much if you could give me an early reply to the above-mentioned questions. A letter of complaint What do people usually complain about when writing a letter of complaint? Defective product, inferior product, phony / fake product, unauthorized / pirated product, poor service, overcharge, wrong delivery, etc. Process of writing a letter of complaint 1. State the incident or problem. (what it is , when you noticed it, how it inconvenienced you.) 2. Provide factual details. (date and place of purchase, description of product, model number, how much you have paid…) 3. Include relevant documentation if there is. (sales slip, invoice, receipt, previous correspondence, picture of damaged / defective item) 4. State clearly what you expect to get. (a full refund, replacement, exchange or repair) 5. Suggest a deadline. G
