北京移动 A-Flex 试验项目启动会  Nokia Networks Beijing Jan 11th, 2007 Multipoint A a.k.a A-Flex BJMCC 11.01.2007 Contents Overview Benefits Functionality Load Balancing Dimensioning Topology Multipoint A a.k.a A-Flex Overview Multipoint A overview Defined in 3GPP TS 23.236 Stage 2 ; Intra Domain Connection of RAN nodes to Multiple CN Nodes, Release 5 The feature overcomes the strict hierarchy which restricts the connection of a RAN node to just one CN node. This restriction results from routing mechanisms in the RAN nodes. This introduces a routing mechanism (and other related functionality), which enables the RAN nodes to route information to different CN nodes. This feature introduces further the concept of pool-area which is enabled by the routing mechanism in the RAN nodes. A pool-area is comparable to an MSC service area as a collection of one or more BSC service areas. In difference to an MSC service area a pool-area is served by multiple CN nodes in parallel which share the traffic of this area between each other. Furthermore, pool-areas may overlap which is not possible for service areas. Pool-area is an area where MS may roam without need to change the serving MSC/VLR. Feature 1564: Multipoint A interface Permits one BSS to be connected to several core network elements. An MS is served by one dedicated MSC/MSS of a pool area as long as it is in the radio coverage of the area. These MSCs/MSSs share the traffic of the pool area. The whole service area of a BSC belongs to one pool area. A BSC coverage area may also belong to multiple pool areas, which is the case when multiple overlapping pool areas include this BSC coverage area. Pool area is an area where MS may roam without need to change the serving MSC/MSS. No inter-MSS relocations (LU/HO) inside a pool. All MSCs/MSSs which serve a pool area have the same configuration concerning radio network.
