Finally, I would like to express my appreciation to all the writers whose works have been referred to in this thesis.  摘 要 死亡是一个不可回避的哲学命题和崇高的文学主题。美国作家爱伦·坡的文学创作主题是死亡。布莱恩特用诗的形式对生死作出精深的思考。受个人经历和文学流派的影响，坡和布莱恩特对死亡的观点和表达死亡之美的风格有根本的区别。本文通过对两位文学家的文学理论和代表作品的探讨，对比其死亡观的异同。 关键词：死亡； 灵魂永生；忧郁之美； 自然之美  ABSTRACT Death is an unavoidable philosophical subject and noble literary theme. It was the theme of Edgar Allan Poe＇works. Bryant also made sagaious meditation on death and birth. Because of different life experience and influence of literary school, Poe and Bryant held different viewson death and they had unique styles to express the beauty of death. This paper discusses their differences and similarities according to their literay theory and works.
