A press release is a form of written communication from an organization to the press and other media about anything that is considered to be newsworthy. when business organizations have some information they wish to make public, they will prepare a press release addressed to the editors of relevant newspapers and trade journals. The following information are commonly announced in press releases: ? relocation of offices, introduction of new products, exciting technologic breakthrough, purchase of new equipment or building, changes of top personnel etc A press release is designed to create a favorable business image among the general public. Therefore, business can obtain free publicity . 1 Letterhead 2 Date of issue 3 Date for publication 4 Heading 5 Introduction 6 Main body 7 Conclusion 8 Contact company logo, company name and address, contact exact day requested usually in words, or incomplete sentences give the gist quickly short, self-contained paragraphs; Main facts, figures, times, dates, etc. Closing remarks or quotation Name of person for further information Note: double spacing throughout the text; indicate “more” or “end” at page bottom 1 As a formal way of external communication, a press release should be presented on letter-headed paper. 2 Letterhead gives the name of the organization, its complete address, telephone number, fax numbers, e-mail address and even Web sites. 3Many organizations tailor a letterhead specifically for news releases. The term “News Release” usually appear as part of the letterhead. 1 The date of issue is simply put below the letterhead. 2 Another approach to the dateline is to put the date at the start of the lead paragraph.
