There exists communication jam and wiring difficulty in tradition safeguard system of intelligent building based on bus or telephone line. To solve this problem, this paper introduces wireless sensor network(WSN) into the safeguard system. WSN integrates the computer techniques, sensor techniques, wireless communication techniques, and network techniques together, and merge the logical information world and the physical world. By offering a revolutionary way for gathering data from the physical world, it can also solve the problem of the data source of the logical information world. At present, the MEMS (micro electrical-mechanical system) and wireless network technology allows us to develop low-cost, low power, multifunctional sensor nodes and build a low-cost WSN. This paper introduces the basic architecture and concrete realization method of the intelligent security system based on WSN. The system has the characteristics of WSN organizes conveniently and nimbly , and can collect various information by a mass of sensor nodes laid at different places. Then these information are sent to the central computer by sink nodes. The computer deals with the information and makes corresponding response. But WSN generally have no infrastructure and sensor nodes are generally placed randomly. Thus WSN is self-organizing network . The sensor nodes in a WSN should configure and manage themselves to form a multi-hop wireless network of gathering and transferring date. Therefore, the following main research questions are: (1) how to organize the sensor nodes into an effective structure so that the sink nodes can gather data efficiently? (2) how
