· PAGE 20· Innovation of Knowledge Management for Construction Enterprises Abstract: Knowledge management is of great significance in enterprise competition. Innovation of knowledge management for construction enterprises is studied in this paper. Firstly the characteristics of knowledge management in construction enterprises axe analyzed. Then main problems of knowledge management in Chinese construction enterprises are proposed. Finally some innovation measures of knowledge management are deeply discussed from the aspects of organization structure, knowledge databases, enterprise culture, and reward mechanism. Issues including sharing of explicit knowledge and tacit KNOWLEDGE balance of information technology and people etc. are highlighted. Key words: knowledge management, construction enterprise, explicit knowledge, tacit knowledge. 1. INTRODUCTION With the development of knowledge economy since l980s, knowledge resources have been widely considered as the core resources of enterprise competition. Knowledge management (KM), as a new management idea, has also received more and more attentions in recent years. It is noteworthy that some enterprises such as IBM Lotus, Microsoft and Siemens have achieved great benefit through applying knowledge management system. However, due to many reasons application of knowledge management is not successful for a good deal of enterprises. Knowledge management is just on the exploring stage in Chinese enterprises. The efforts of implementing knowledge management have been hampered by many factors including management idea and technology application. So the innovation measures to promote and strength knowledge management process of Chinese enterprises are urgent. Combined with the characteristics of construction enterprises of China, this paper investigates how construction enterprises exploit their knowledge resources by establishing practical, efficient knowledge management system.
