PERFORMANCE
ACARS
ARINC Communication Addressing and Reporting System It allows direct exchange of data between the aircraft and airline ground computer, through the VHF3. Aircraft to ground messages (downlink) consist of operational, maintenance, monitoring, performance and cabin data .Ground to aircraft messages (uplink) contain crew information (e.g. wind) or might request for transmission of data, which are sent automatically or by crew action.
Acceleration segment
Takeoff climb segment between second and final segment used to clean up the aircraft high lift configuration while accelerating.
Actual landing distance (ALD)
Distance measured between the point 50 feet above the runway threshold and the point where the complete stop of the aircraft is achieved. It is assumed that: the approach speed is:
VLS (1.23 Vs of the configuration) for manual landing
VLS + 5kt for CATII/CATIII automatic landing
the pilot applies maximum braking and the antiskid system is operating
the ground spoilers are operating
It does not consider the use of reverse thrust.
Adapted thrust
Engine option, which sets the thrust to a value that enables the aircraft to comply with one of the following constraints:
constant rate of climb, all engines operating
constant rate of climb, one engine inoperative
constant climb gradient, all engines operating
constant climb gradient, one engine inoperative
ADC
Air Data Computer
These devices provide air data reference (baro altitude, speed, Mach number, angle of attack, temperature, overspeed warnings) to the EFIS system (PFD, ND) and to other system (FMS, FADEC…)
Adequate airport
An airport is considered adequate for the operator when it satisfies the aircraft performance requirements applicable at the expected landing weight.
