The protection of land and water encompasses most of our traditional conservation strategies, including: acquisition of an interest in land or water conservation easements management leases public land designations The protection of land and water encompasses most of our traditional conservation strategies, including: acquisition of an interest in land or water conservation easements management leases public land designations Good stewardship of natural resources by public land managers and private landowners can dramatically reduce impacts to ecological systems. Our traditional land management and stewardship activities fall within this approach. Adaptive management strategies may also include capacity building. This could mean launching new resource management and restoration programs that recognize and address the uncertainty of how an ecological system will respond to our conservation efforts. Some threats can be addressed most effectively through good public policy. For example, haphazard residential growth and urban sprawl fragment significant ecosystems across the country. To address this threat, local comprehensive plans and development standards need to be established. In that case, TNC staff need to develop partnerships with federal, state, and local government to secure public funds, influence legislation and policy, and affect management practices on public lands… all to forward biodiversity protection. You already know that most threats to biodiversity are ultimately caused by incompatible human economic activities. To address these threats, we must often do more than appropriately use and manage resources, and foster good policies. We must actively develop, promote, and implement compatible development alternatives - the production of goods and services, the creation and maintenance of businesses, and the pursuit of land uses - that conserve biodiversity, enhance the local community, and achieve economic goals. 监测目的不明确 采用无效/低效的指标或方法
