Courses A-levels can be studied by students in Years 12 and 13, as a optional part of secondary school. This is normally done as a direct continuation of the secondary education process and hence most students study for the qualification from ages 16 to 18. A-level lasts about 2 years. The first year is called ‘AS Level’ . You can select 3 to 4 subjects you are good at or interested in. The second year is called ‘A2 Level’. You can select 3 subjects you are doing best in AS Level. Main route into higher education. Courses No compulsory course. The A-Level prepares over 70 optional subjects whereas only 4 subjects can become your option.
