Learning objectives By the end of the unit, you are supposed to: know the importance of business communication; know how to improve business communication skills; be able to make effective business communication. Background Information Business Communication: communication used to promote a product, service, or organization; relay information within the business; or deal with legal and similar issues. It is also a means of relaying between a supply chain, for example the consumer and manufacturer. Background Information Business Communication is known simply as Communications. It encompasses a variety of topics, including Marketing, Branding, Customer relations, Consumer behaviour, Advertising, Public relations, Corporate communication, Community engagement, Research Measurement, Reputation management, Interpersonal communication, Employee engagement, Online communication, and Event management. It is closely related to the fields of professional communication and technical communication. Detailed Study of Text The passage can be divided into 3 parts. Part One (Para. 1) Part Two (Para. 2-12) Part Three (Para. 13) Part One (para. 1) The first part is an introduction. In this part, the writer points out why good business communication is necessary. Q1:Do you know what business communication includes? Q2: Why is communication necessary in workplace? Part Two (para. 2-12) This is the main body. The writer gives examples of bad business communications and shows how they hurt business. Part Three (para. 13) The third part is an ending.
