Cooperative Federalism (1930’s to 1960’s) Duy Tran Amer Avelar Alex Tran Elizabeth Toner Shium Rahman Period-1 Cooperative Federalism Cooperative federalism is a government were the states and national government become more involved with one another. This means that the separation of the national and state government will no longer be existent allowing the state and federal government to share a certain say in a specific matter. In this type of federalism all levels of government would work together in order to solve a problem in the country. Rise of Cooperative Federalism The New Deal would be what gave the federal government and the state government a say in the others matter because in order to get the nation out of the Great Depression, every level of government would have to cooperate with one another to stimulate the economy. Reasons for the New Deal The prices of agricultural prices in the US began to decrease causing an economic slump for the farmers of the US in 1921. The construction industry of the US began to decrease in 1926 hurting the US’s economy even more. The amount of surplus consumer goods and automobiles reached an all time high in 1929 because no one had money to buy any of these things. Reasons for the New Deal (Continue) During the 1920’s it was common for banks to fail which because there was so many people buying on margin in order to buy stocks, but no one was paying the banks back. The stock market crashed on October 29, 1929 because everyone was trying to sell their stock just because their stock dropped a little bit. The New Deal Was a solution to the depression Agencies founded by it Federal Housing Administration (FHA)- provided federal financing for new home construction Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)- a work relief program for farmers and home owners Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA) National Recovery Administration (NRA)- imposed restrictions on production in agriculture and many industries (government paid farm
