AbstractCoppernitride(Cu3N)thin film, asasemiconductingmaterial,is metastableatroomtemperature.Ithascharacteristicsoflowdecompositiontemperatureof300-450℃,highresistivityandlowreflectanceintheinfraredandvisibleband.Inrecentyears,coppernitride,asanewmaterial,hasbeenattractiveforitsapplicationsinthefieldofthestorageandmicroelectronicsemiconductorphotoelectric.Theordered structureofCu3Nwas ofanti-ReO3typeinthePm3m(221) spacegroup.Copperatomsoccupythecenterofthecubicedgesandnitrogenatomsoccupythecornersofthecell.ThisarrangementispeculiarsinceCuatomsdonotoccupytheface-centeredcubicclose-packingsites.Sotherearemanyvacantinterstitialsitesinthiscrystalstructure.Ifadditionalcopperorotheratomsarecontainedwithinthesesites,theelectricalandopticalpropertiesofthedopedcoppernitridearedifferentfromthoseoftheidealCu3N.This paperinvestigatedtheproperties of3dtransitionmetaldoped Cu3N(Cu3NM:M=Sc,Ti,V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni),byusingthefirst-principlesmethodwhichbasedonthedensityfunctionaltheory(DFT), andcarryingoutwiththeWIEN2kpackage. Firstly,thestructuresofCu3NanddopedstateCu3NMwereoptimizedtogetthemostsuitablelatticeconstant.Thenwecalculatedthedensityofstates(DOS),bandstructure,electrondensity,elasticconstantsandelasticmodulusofCu3NandCu3NM.Theresultsshowthat:Transitionmetalatom-dopedCu3NunitcellwithanextraMatomatthecenterofthecubeleadedtothevolumeexpansionandshrinkagewiththeincreasingtheatomicnumberofdopedatoms.Mnatomisacriticalpoint;AllthetransitionmetalatomsintercalateintocubicCu3Nchangesemiconductortobeconductor.Opticalbandgapnolongerexists.DOSandelectrondensityshowthatbyincreasingtheelectronsin3dorbitofdopedatom, the stronghybridizationbecome strongerbetweenCu3danddopedatom3delectron.DopingatomsweakentheinteractionbetweenCu-Nbonds.Cohesiveenergycalculationshowthatitiseasiertoget3dtransitiondopedCu3NthanpureCu3Ninthelab.ElasticpropertiesshowsthatCu3NMaremechanicalstableandallthecompoundscanbeclassifiedintothemalleablematerial.Keywords:coppernitride,transitionmetal,firstprinciples,electr
