Teaching aims Knowledge By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to read, understand and use the new words and phrases e.g. crossword puzzle, whom, anybody, chemistry, based on. Ability To be able to talk about heroes and the reason why they can be heroes. Emotion To tell them anyone can be a hero, heroes are not that far away from our real life. Maybe they are the normal people around us. Teaching difficult points and important points To use the new words and phrases to talk about heroes and the reason why they can be heroes. Teaching tools PPT, radio Teacher’s activities Students ’activities Aims Step1: Warm up Show some pictures and teach new words and phrases in the lesson. Learn new words and phrases in the lesson. To motivate the Ss and prepare for the new lesson. Step2:Lead-in 1.Ask: Li Ming also made a crossword puzzle for his friend. Do you want to know about it? Play the audiotape. And encourage Ss to answer the questions. What did Ms. Liu ask them to do ? Whom should Li Ming’s puzzle be about? Whom did Li Ming send the puzzle to? What did Danny think of Li Ming’s puzzle? The Ss Listen and answer the questions. To motivate the Ss and lead in the new concept. Step3: New Concept 1. Read the lesson and answer the questions. 1) What kind of crossword puzzles did Li Ming make? 2) When did Danny show the puzzle to Jenny and Brain? 3) How long did it take Jenny and Brain to solve the puzzle? 4) Whom was Li Ming’s puzzle about? Read the lesson again and fill in the blanks. Read the lesson and finish the exercises. The Ss fill in the blanks independently and then discuss the answers in groups.
