Phase 3: Video: people began to think why all this happens, then tried to search for new methods to solve the problem, and the displayed the new concept cars and its mechanisms. Oral: the oral mode occurred in the third picture, showing what the new car looks like. Music: strange and absurd, giving an impression of being entirely new. Phase 4: the longest phase, which consists of three sub-phases: (1) Instance of new concept car; (2) The manufacturing of new car; (3) The classification of smart cars. Music: the same music runs throughout the 4th phase, quick rhythm like disco. Sub-phase 1: the display of new types of cars; Sub-phase 2: oral: we need to make new cars, not just concept cars; the video mode shows how to make new cars, and the contrast between the new and the old. Sub-phase 3: the video displays the working mechanisms of the new car, the types of new car and the oral mode shows the same, and also the smart cars can be made in the future. 3.5 From Grammar to Text The text is analyzed into smaller units until into the smallest units, which are the events, which can not be further divided. An event is realized by a figure, a process, maybe a process in language, or a process in the visual. In the visual grammar, the process is realized by vector with its participants, like air, people, things, etc. Each figure consists of one or more elements (See Figure 6). In the present framework, all modes are to realize meaning, and so all modes have a grammar for realizing meaning. This makes discourse analysis founded on solid ground. 4. Mode Synergy in Classroom Discourse From above, we can see that all modes cooperate to construct the meaning of the discourse, especially the oral mode and mode set presented by PPT. In the following, we’ll see how the oral and the mode set by ppt interact and cooperate to construct the meaning of the discourse.
