An analysis on the Application of Body Language in English Teaching in Primary School 摘 要 体态语是运用手势、身势、面部表情、目光和空间距离来进行交流的一种语言。它具有形象性、直观性等特点,在英语教学,尤其是小学英语教学中起着非常重要的作用. 本文采用理论研究的方法,从小学生的心理、生理特征等方面开展研究,结合小学英语教学目标和新课程标准来分析体态语在小学英语教学中的应用及其重要性。研究发现,正确的体态语不仅能够提高教师的教学效果、达到小学英语教学目的,还能激发学生对英语的学习兴趣、提高学习效率,并对改善师生关系,营造轻松愉悦的课堂氛围有着较大的帮助。但是,消极错误的体态语则会起到相反的效果。因此,教师应该掌握体态语的使用原则,不仅要正确使用体态语,还要了解学生的体态语,读懂其中蕴含的信息,以此来调整改进自己的教学。 关键词:体态语;小学英语教学;体态语功能;体态语应用原则 Abstract Body language is a kind of unspoken language that is widely used by us as nearly 70% of communication between human beings is derived through nonverbal language [1]. Generally speaking, it includes gestures, postures, facial expressions, sights and physical distance. It’s visual, tangible, flexible and diverse. This thesis adopts the theoretical research and the observation method to carry out the research on the application of body language in English teaching in primary schools. Besides, the analysis of the physical and psychological characteristics of primary school students will be brought in, accompanied by the analysis of the objectives in primary school English teaching and the new curriculum standard. The study shows that both the teacher’s and the students’ body language in class are worth studying. On one side, the proper application of body language by teachers can promote the efficiency of the teaching and help to achieve the teaching objectives. On the other side, students’ interest in learning English will be stimulated which can have a positive impact on the improvement of their learning efficiency. What’s more, it helps to maintain a friendly relation between the teacher and the students. While if it is used improperly, especially the negative body language used by teachers will lead to the opposite result. Therefore, teachers should make efforts to improve their body language to assist the teaching and observe students’ body language to adjust the teaching.
