Teaching Plan (SEFS Book1) Unit6 Listening and speaking General Objectives To develop students’ ability of listening. To develop students’ ability of communication. Teaching aims 1.Find words to show ones feelings. 2.Distinguish the reasons. Grasp the expressions to show thanks. 3.Practise expressing thanks and responding to thanks. Teaching aids: a multimedia computer, pictures, Teaching procedures: Step (I) Greetings Step (II) Pre-listening Enjoying an English song-Edelweiss before the class. Ask some questions about the song and learn some new words. 1.Do you enjoy songs? 2.Which film is it from? ------(The Sound of Music) 3.How many Oscars did the film get? ------(Five Oscar awards or rewards) They are bright and valuable. Getting them means great honor. (Write the new words on the blackboard.) 4.When the directors or actors got Oscar awards,how did they feel? (Ask Ss to find words as many as they can. Give more words about the excited feelings.)-------(Shocked, thankful, excited, grateful, full of gratitude/appreciation, proud, honored, pleased...) 5.What do you want to say? ------(Practice using them.) 6.First, you want to express your feelings and then maybe you want to thank somebody else. Whom do you want to thank? Step(Ⅲ)While-listening 1.Listen to an award speech and answer two questions. (1) Which kind of award was given to the lady? (2) Whom did she want to thank? 2.Listen to the speech again and try to find the reasons and expressions. (Teacher uses the pause key. Let Ss write them down in exercise3) 3.Listen again. Check and fill in the missing words. Step (IV) Post-listening According to the clue, retell the speech. CLUE: (1) Expressing feelings. thank you...,shocked, thankful ,be grateful to... (2) Showing thanks. I want to thank _____for bringing_____. express my gratitude to _____ who_____. thank _____ for_____. express my appreciation to_____ for _____. say _____ to_____ who_____ ,_____. Step (V) Speaking 1.Read the sentences
