ABSTRACTFor a long time, job stress and job performance have been serious problems facing western developed industrial countries, therefore, researches on these topics have been mainly conducted in these societies, which means that the theories in these fields are mainly developed from western industrial countries and mainly adaptive to their employees. However, job stress and job performance are also issues that facing countries that are experiencing vital economic transformation, especially China. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct researches to testify whether theories developed in western countries can also adaptive to China.This research make a thoroughly review about job stress and job performance as well as job engagement and the papers that are related to these constructs such as job involvement, and based on the comprehensive literature review, we choose the eight-element model of job performance as the foundation of our model and combined with the characteristics of Chinese IT industries as well as IT project employees, which are well-known for the repid changes, hard competition and high stress, we proposed the factors that influencing IT project employees’ job performance: job engagement, job stress and teamwork. For job stress, with the suggestion of previous literature, we clarified the general stress into challenge and hindrance stress, and studied the different effects they hav e on job performance; for job engagement, the positive relationship between it and job performance has been identified, here in this research, the purpose is to test whether it is also adaptive in China, and the positive relationship between teamwork and job performance is also suggested.Then we designed questionnaire of this research, and collected data from the samples. All the hypotheses are identified and contributions and suggestion have been given with the help of the data analysis.Keywords: IT project employees, job performance, job engagement, challenge st
