After it was introduced into China, a lot of scholars at home used it to study novels and other literary works. Wuthering Heights written by Emily Bronte, is a novel filled with many emotions and activity. Her characters represent an on going conflict between love and hate. Published in 1847, Wuthering Heights didn’t gain immediate success, many of whom condemned it as sordid, vulgar, and unnatural. It was not until 1850, when Wuthering Heights received a second printing with an introduction by Emily’s sister Charlotte, that it attracted a wide readership. Today it is widely regarded as one of the great novels of English literature. As pragmatics has been developing in recent years, and pragmatic analysis of many version of literary works or films has gained increasing focus. It provides us a new study method to analysis Wuthering Heights. Therefore, analyzing Wuthering Heights from the perspective of pragmatics is meaningful. So far, scholars abroad and at home study this novel mainly from the perspective of feminism and narratology, stylistics and realism theories. However, few people abroad or at home analyze the novel from the perspective of pragmatics.
