Biometric technology is based on people with these physiological and behavioral characteristics, by borrowing modern information processing platform, systematic processing of the collected biometric information is compared with the original feature information, so as to achieve a recognition technology for personal identification. Due to the convenience, accuracy and low cost of fingerprint recognition technology, fingerprint identification has more advantages, and is constantly used in different areas of life, including criminal investigation, airport security, personal electronic information.Fingerprint image acquisition, image pre-processing, image feature extraction and feature matching are the four basic components of the Automated Fingerprint Identification System. In this paper, two aspects of algorithm analysis and research about the characteristics of the fingerprint image extraction and feature matching, In the fingerprint image feature extraction process, mainly research grayscale fingerprint image-based direct feature extraction algorithm and based on fingerprint thinning characteristics extraction algorithm.
