Thismethodisprovedtobeeffectiveforimprovingthedimensionalaccuracy ofthemachine system.ConventionalNIFandPIFmethodswhichareoriginallybasedonserialmachinetools canalsoberealizedusingthenewparallelmachinetool.Fournewincrementalformingmethods areimplemented.Theyare:(a)The uppertoolandlowertoolformdifferentfeaturesseparately. ThiscouldbeinterpretedasthecombinationofNIFfromoppositesides.Arelativecomplexpart canbeformedbythismethod;(b)Onestylustoolformstheproductshapewhiletheothertool supportsthesheetblankatthesurroundings.Thismethodcanavoidsaggingofthesheetblankat thetopofthepart;(c)Thetwostylustoolsaresynchronizedinmotiontoformthepart.Intheory anypartgeometrycanbeformedbythismethod.Nosupportingdiesareneeded;and(d).The twostylustoolsarealsosynchronizedinmotion.Buttheformingsequenceisfrominsideofthe parttotheoutside.Thereareno verticaltravelsforeitherofthetwotoolsexceptinthefirst forminglevelduringthisformingprocess.ThepositioningrelationshipsoftwostylustoolsarederivedforthesynchronizedFIFprocess basedonthegeometryinformationforcones.AusersubroutinebasedonEXCELVBAis developedtogeneratetoolpaths.Thenativeprogramusedinrobotcontrolsoftwarecanbe alsodirectlyexportedfromthissubroutine.Sincethequalityofformedpartcanbeimprovedby spiraltoolpaths,othertreatmentmethodsforcomplexpartshapessuchasthetransformation fromcontourpathstospiralpathsarealsodeveloped.Experimentsareconductedandsheetmetalpartsareformedusingthenewmethodsof incrementalformingwithparallelmachinetools.Asqueezefactormethodwhichcontrolsthe clearanceoftwoformingtoolsisdevelopedtoimprovethepart’sdimension accuracy.Aseriesof experimentshavedemonstratedthatforminganglehassignificantimpactonthesquee
