The method of structural damage identification which is based on the structural dynamics characteristics and experiment modal analysis has been a hot topic of the academic and engineering. It incorporates many subjects including system identification, vibration theory, testing and measurement techniques, signal acquisition technology, and it has been widely used in aerospace and precision machine tools and so on. This paper introduces the vibration theory and the finite element theory of the beam and plate structure which have been usually used in our daily life，and also the damage location index the modal strain energy based on the perturbation theory.
