华 中 科 技 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 II Abstract Sina Micro-blog develops rapidly in an era of self-media, whose characteristics consist of easy access, fast propagation speed, and expansion mainly in multi-mode ways. Therefore, it has become “breeding ground” for producing rumor. It is beneficial for the purification of micro-blog environment to discover the false information in time, and clarify the facts. This action can prevent the cyber citizens from being misled by the rumors, and even stop the expansion of the rumors which exerts bad influence on the social stability, and threatens the harmonious development of the whole society. This research focuses on the rumors in Sina Micro-blog and the information of rumor refutation by means of case study and content study, mainly analyzing the main body, ways, effects and blockage elements of rumor refutation in micro blog. According to this research, the main body of rumor refutation in micro blog can be divided into government organizations, business organizations, civil groups, opinion leader, and the related parties. Besides, it can be concluded from the research with various cases analysis that the rumor refutations in micro blog appear in the ways of announcement by original parties， forwarding by other unrelated persons, self-purification on the platform, and specification on the platform. In addition, the rumor refutations may be forwarded widely, submerged, questioned, or overthrown by other parties. What’s more, it also can be inferred that the insufficient evidence, the lack of authority, and expression skills, and the cyber citizens’ “rebellious” mood have a negative effect on the spread of information which refute the rumors. Finally, the research provides some targeted measures which can be taken to dispel the rumors in a better way, for instance, increasing public trust in government, improving the opinion leaders’ and common cyber citizens’ ability of distinguishing the rumors, encouraging the business organizat
