1. Half of the Ss are interested in learning English and often ask T questions about English.
2. The students can have abilities of previewing, reviewing. They have previewed the new words and expressions before class.
3. Most Ss would like to participate in activities guided by the teacher, and they need to do more oral practice to improve their oral English.
Analyses of the passage:
The reading passage is written and set out to resemble an article in a newspaper. It describes the first few months of a Chinese student’s time at an English university. Some of the differences she experienced are described. Some of the difficulties she faced and how she solved these difficulties are also mentioned.
Teaching aims:
1. Knowledge aims:
Help the Ss to summarize the benefits and difficulties of living in a foreign country.
2. Ability aim:
1). To develop the students’ reading skills.
2). To enable the Ss to learn about Xie Lei’s school life in London.
3).To arouse the students’ interest in traveling abroad.
3. Emotional aim: Further develop the Ss’ strong will of overcoming difficulties that they would face and the Ss’ determination of meeting the challenges.
Teaching important difficult points: Help the Ss to summarize the benefits and difficulties of living in a foreign country.
Teaching methods: Fast and careful reading; asking and answering activity; individual, pair or group work,Task-based method .
