Enterprise-class RFID applications involve in a wide variety of related hardware and software, including fixed readers, sensors, mobile devices, wireless access devices, edge control server, data processing center server and so on. These products have their own characteristics, and in RFID applications, multiple devices are often used in combination. To manage, control and optimize these devices and the structures of combinations effective is a question must to be solved in the enterprise-class RFID applications. Nowadays, the functions of the RFID middleware products involved in the device management and monitoring are limited, also the research in this domain is relatively less at home and abroad. Therefore, this paper focuses on research and development of RFID device management and monitoring.This paper performs in-depth analysis and research of RFID device management and monitoring technology, presents the component-oriented management solution. We solve the problems of complexity of RFID device management through multiple-layer logical model. This solution is based on component-based RFID middleware framework, providing device management and monitoring function in the edge layer and the management layer, which enables the RFID middleware provide an interface of application-level to manage and control the devices, achieves a new RFID device management architecture, and embodies the idea of flexible and easy to extend.
