StudiesonPreparationandPropertiesofLi-Mg-B-HSystemasHydrogenstoragematerialsAbstactHydrogenasakindofgreenenergycanreplacepetrochemicalresources.Itisonenewtypeoffunctionalmaterialsandhasalotofadvantages.Hydrogenstoragetechnologyprovidesanidealsolutiontosolvetheglobalproblemssuchasenergy,climateandenvironmentproblems.LiBH4hasthelargesthydrogencapacity(18.5wt.%)amonghydrogenstoragematerialsandcansatisfythegoalsofthenextgenerationoffuelcellrequirements.However,LiBH4hasthehighdehydrogenationtemperatureanddifficultreversiblehydriding/dehydriding.Atpresent,studiesontheadditionofMgH2toLiBH4areattactedbecauseitcanimproveitsdehydrogenationproperties.Li-Mg-B-Hsystemashydrogenstoragematerialswaspreparedbyhigh-energyball-millingmethod.MgH2powdersmilledfor24hinadvancewereaddedtoLiBH4andmilledfor5hagain.X-raydiffraction(XRD),transmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM),Fouriertransforminfraredspectroscopy(FT-IR)andthermogravimetric/differentialscanningcalorimetry(TG/DSC)wereusedtoinvestigatedehydrogenationmechanisms,structureofproductsbeforeandafterdehydrogenation,thermodynamicsanddynamicsofofLi-Mg-B-HsystemaswellastheeffectsofadditionofTiO2andSiO2ascatalystonhydrogenpropertiesofthesystemrespectively.TEMresultsshowthatthegrainsizeofMgH2afterpretreatmentwasdecreasedto60-100nm.XRDandFT-IRresultsindicatethatchemicalbondsanddehydrogenationmechanismofthemodifiedsystemarenotchanged.TG/DSCresultsshowthatthedehydrogenationtemperatureof2LiBH4/MgH2(24h)systemis322.86℃,thedehydrogenationcapacityis10.64wt.%.Comparedwith2LiBH4/MgH2(0h)system,thedehydrogenationtemperaturedecreases28℃andthedehydrogenationcapacityincreases1.5wt.%.Thus,thepretreatmenttimeofMgH2shouldbecontrolledin24h.Studiesfoundthatthedehydrogencapacityhasnottheevidentchangewiththeincrementofballmillingtime.Onthecontrary,itwillproducepowderaccumulationandbond,energylossphenomenon.Thus,theincrementofthedehydrogencapacityareuncertainwiththeincreaseoftheball-millingtime.XRD,TG/DSCresultsalsoshowthattheincrementoftheball-millingtimecanreduced
