AbstractInrecentyears,theSquareHollowSection(SHS)isbeingappliedinframecolumnsandtrussstructuresmoreandmorewidelytoreplacethetraditionalI-sectionandH-sectionmainlyduetoitsexcellentstructuralandeconomicalperformance.Howtoconnectthebarsofsteelstructuresseemstobeparticularlyimportant.ThedirectlyweldedSHSjointhasawiderangeofprospectsindevelopmentandapplicationbecauseithasuniquesuperiorityofdirectforcetransmission，simpleform,easyprocessingandsavingmuchsteel.TheSHSjointwithreasonableparametershasexcellentseismicperformance,onthebasisofwhichmyCollegehasbeendevelopingSHS-jointseismicsupportsystem.Whenexperiencingthecombinedeffectoflateralloadandverticalload,thelateralresistanceofthepuresteelframecanbeachievedbyincreasingthebendingstiffnessofbeamsandcolumns.However,suchpracticeisnoteconomical,especiallyforhigh-riseframes.Thereforeitisnecessarytoprovideinframessomesupportsystemwhoseseismicperformanceisadequatetoformbrace-steelframestructurewithduallateralresistance.Bracedsteelframehasbeenwidelyusedinsteelstructureduetoitsrelativelygoodseismicperformanceandefficientstructuralsystem.Buthowtoarrangebraceseconomicallyandreasonablytoeffectivelyimprovetheseismiccapacityhasbecomeacriticalissueinthedesignofsteelframestructures.ThisresearchaimsatstudyingthereasonablearrangementofbracesbyelasticandplastictimehistoryanalysisonsteelframeswhichcontainSHS-jointbraces.Ageneral-purposefiniteelementANSYSsoftwareisusedinthispaperto:1)Setupframemodelstoanalyzeandcontrastwithpreviousfindingsanddeterminewhetherthisanalysisisfeasibleornot.2）SetupthedynamictimehistoryanalysismodelsofvariousSHS-jointbracedframes,whichmainlyincludemonoclinicleverandK-shapedeccentricallybracedframes.3)AnalyzethedynamicperformanceofSHS-jointbracedsteelframesunderseismicwaves,andcomparewiththatofpuresteelframestoknowtheeffectofbracesontheperformanceofsteelframes.4)AnalyzethedynamicperformanceofSHS-jointbracedframeswhenexposedtoavarietyofseismicwaves,anddrawthetimehistorycurvesofeachvertexdisplacement,thetotalbottomshearr
