Report on Consultation with the Users of Water Sport Centre 1. Overview 1.1 Background With the successful operations of the CUHKs Satellite Remote Sensing Receiving Station (located at the hill top of the United College), Institute of Space and Earth Information Science (ISEIS), CUHK was approved by the China National Space Administrations (CNSA, 國家航天局) and supported by the HKSAR Government to build and operate a new satellite station for the latest China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS-02B, 中巴地球資源衛星). As the first university approved to receive data from remote sensing satellite of China, the operation of the new satellite station will be a tremendous honour to CUHK and we will take up this important mission to monitor and protect the environment of South China and Southeast Asia in the near future. 1.2. Proposed Site Location ISEIS invited satellite antenna experts to conduct a comprehensive environment survey within the campus, considering the technical and environmental constrains, the experts suggested that the space within the northern part of Water Sport Centre (WSC) as the most feasible location for the new satellite station (Annex 1). 2. The Arrangement of the User Consultation ISEIS, Estate Management Office (EMO), and the PE Unit held several rounds of discussion. In order to receive the views from the users of WSC, the Project Team organised the consultation with the users of Water Sports Centre. The arrangements of the consultation as follows: 2.1 The Arrangements Date Time: 28th February, 2009, 3:00pm - 4:30pm Venue: Rm 705, Mong Man Wai Building (Control Room of the existing Satellite Remote Sensing Receiving Station) Participants: All users of WSC were invited.
